I'll be spending a week in Manchester next month and would like to pick up some europe-only HD-DVD titles. Anyone know of some good places to shop for HD-DVD titles there?

Thanks!

Your best bet is probably to shop online, as in-store prices in England are pretty high.
Relevant UK etailer and other links in the AVS Imports sticky:

Other than that, UK b&m stores like HMV and Virgin Megastores should be stocking HD DVDs.

See if you can find a large ASDA store (which is owned by Walmart). My local one is stocking hd-dvd and blu-ray discs at online prices, although the selection of titles is very limited.

HMV will have a decent, but extremely expensive selection.

I'm from the north of England myself, only from the right side of the hill - Yorkshire! :D

Get yourself to York for a day out if you can. Great city.

BTW, I live in Huddersfield - 30 minutes away from Manchester on the train. Pop over for a pint if you get chance.

Some of the larger Tesco superstores are doing HD-DVD as well. Reasonable prices as far as B&M stores are concerned though not an especially large collection on offer. I got Van Helsing a few weeks back for £14 - I knew I could get it cheaper online but I wanted to make a point to Tesco :)

I havn't seen many HD-DVDs cheaper than £15 anywhere in the UK, online or not... Most titles seem to average about £18.

I saw an interesting 70s documentary about Huddersfield hosted by James Mason.
The docu was one of the extras on the SD DVD of the James Mason film "Odd Man Out". Wouldn't necessarily recommend renting the movie, but the docu was interesting.

Virgin in the Arndale Centre (manchester City Centre) have recently lowered the price of many of their HD-DVD & Blu-Ray releases. As an (extreme) example, I picked up Blu-Ray Hellboy recently for £10. Their range isn't massive, like many other UK stores.

Like many others have said, you'll probably have more luck shopping online.
