I've just started looking at a DVD recorder with ATSC tuner to add to our tunerless HD lcd.
When i've been able to find the information, it seems that component output is limited to 480p. Are there any dvd recorders that output 720p or 1080i?
thanks,
The Philips DVDR3575H (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10642719&&#post10642719) outputs 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p over HDMI connection. (Link goes to first post where someone actually had a unit...previous posts were speculation and info on a diff. unit).
No recorder passes native HD through the tuner. Anything out the HDMI is upconverted. If you want an HD tuner for your LCD you will have to buy a separate STB.
Oh, yea...tunerless HD LCD...you prob. don't want a SD recorder like the one I recommended...it'll downconvert your HD signal before it upconverts it?
Don't think there are any readily available recorders that also have a HDTV tuner. Might need to get a cable or sat DVR, then a SD recorder to offload programs to DVD?

That's what I was wondering. Thanks!
