Hi folks-
Am set to drop the cheddar on one of these to replace a 42" Panny commercial ED. We sit @ 12 feet away. The Pioneer is about $800-to a grand more. I prefer the aesthetics of the black bezeled Pioneer, along with the extra 2" and removable speaker. However, is the performance of the Pio worth the extra money? Thanks!

I prefer the Pio as long as the extra $$$$ OK with you.

I would choose the Panny with the extra saving.

I agree with these guys, if you can swing it, take the Pioneer. I will +3 it!

I think for around the price of the 6070 you can also consider a Panny 58700u. That might make the choice more difficult. Both good displays.

For what it is worth, comparing last year's models, I found to my eyes the Panny clearer that the Pioneer's softer focus. The Pioneer's picture was steader though, less dithering, no doubt due to their excelent processor.

Cheers, :)

60" at 12 feet away. Kind of close if you ask me for that amount of screen size.

I agree with Gary - I spent hours comparing a 58PX600 v. a 1540 (the Pio Elite), calibrating both in the store and spoke to a guy who owned both - the Panny gives a crisper, more detailed picture, whereas the Pio looks smoother. The Pio's colors pop more, the Panny looks more natural. I chose the Panny and saved a couple of grand for speakers and a BRD player!
