Is there a way to split off the audio/video feed so that the signal can be sent to another room for viewing independent of the source being watched? Don't laugh but I thought about trying to feed a TV in the bathroom off the home theater so that when someone needs to take a break he/she wouldn't miss anything and the movie wouldn't have to be paused.

I thought about doing the same thing in the next room or the bathroom.
I'm sure someone has done this.

Yes, this can be done. What type of signal do you need to split (coax, composite, s-video, component, DVI or HDMI)? Each type of video signal would require different hardware.
A better question....what type of audio and video inputs does the bathroom TV have?

Well, since I am still atthe framing stage I can really do pretty much whatever I want. I will probably just get a small (25'' FP) for the wall. It'll probably have component as well as hdmi. I am running component and hdmi to the projector. Currently, I have no HD source but will in the near future. My receiver, Marantz 8300 (?) upconverts to component. I would like to be able to display whatever is running in the theater.

Would something like this work? www.kvms.com/products/EXT-HDMI-142.asp (http://).

the easier question is what type of outputs does the DVD player offer? You don't need a splitter if it has multiple outputs. You could theoretically connect the DVD player to your PJ via HDMI and then do a run of composite/component/S-video from the DVD player to the bathroom TV since you don't need the quality picture. Same with the audio from your amp/receiver.....presumably you can run some RCA cables (red and white) from the amp/receiver to your bathroom TV.
This is actually a pretty neat idea. If my room was just framed and not finished I would consider doing something similar. Maybe mount a tablet PC to the wall above the toilet. Use it as a digital picture frame most of the time, but during the game/movie I could use it as a second TV. All I'd need was a video input like a TV tuner card.
Hey if you are going to put a tablet PC there, why not put news (or sports) on it so that you could read in the bathroom..
Of course I have been guilty of bringing one of my tablet PC's into the bathroom...

Just FYI - there is another forum (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=36) on this site that deals with this (and similar) subjects, so you might find answers there.
