I went to a movie theater the other day to see Ocean's Thirteen and they had this display set up:
http://www.kernelseasons.com/i/gen/floor_display_sm.gif
Each of those jars have a different flavor that can be applied to your popcorn. I tried a few of them. My wife liked the caramel flavor and I liked the white cheddar. They also had cheddar cheese, parmesan and garlic, and butter. I tried the cheddar cheese, but didn't like it all that much.

Anyway, I'm hooked on the white cheddar now and I'm about to go to the grocery store to pick up some of it.

Has anybody else had any experience with this stuff? No More Naked Popcorn (http://www.nomorenakedpopcorn.com).

My next thing is, where can I get the same grease that is used at the movie theaters to pop my popcorn? I want to make sure it tastes the same.

Never tried the seasoning, but I have had very good luck with the chocolate, and caramel toppings that you put in with the coconut oil when popping. Makes for a nice change of pace. I get most of my supplies from one of the guys that does powerbuys on here since he is located close by Stargate Cinema (http://stargatecinema.com/)

We have them available at Gold Medal as well. Ken at Stargate Cinema can order them for you..

My theater had that for a long time. They recently got bought out by someone else and now that seasoning is gone. :( I loved the Nacho Cheddar flavor.

Luckily though the grocery store near my house carries it. I guess it is time to sneak it in.

We like them. Nice change of pace from butter-- and less chance for the eight year old to wipe greasy hands on the furniture.

Well, I was dissappointed. I went to the grocery store to buy some and they were $2.50 for a small little thing of it. The web site does a really good job of making them look bigger.

Since the seasoning is a little "weak" you have to use a lot of it just to taste it. That, combined with the small amount given at that price, is just not worth it.

I likes the sizes of it in those containers at the theater. I'd be willing to buy that.

We have a similar product available at Gold Medal Products. What flavors were you interested in? If we have those flavors, you can order them through Ken at Stargate Cinema.

Thanks,

I picked up small bottle of the White Cheddar Cheese shaker today at Walmart. I figured if I really liked it, then I could order a bigger size next time from Stargate Cinema. I hope to try it out this weekend with a group of friends.

What will we come up with next.... if you could only see what comes out of our test lab....lol

What will they think of next? Well, they already thought of it:

White Cheddar
Butter
Nacho Cheddar
Parmesan and Garlic
Ranch
Sour Cream & Onion
Popcorn Salt
Caramel
Kettle Corn
Jalapeno
Cajun
Barbeque
Apple Cinnamon
Chocolate Marshmellow

Now that's a list.

Mmmm.... Apple Cinnamon! I may have to try that!

I don't see my favorite "banana cream pie" on the list, though. ;-(

No "beta tasting" required. They're available now on the site I originally posted. But, be warned, the sizes are smaller than they appear on the web site.

I may order some from Stargate when I finish the two containers I bought from the grocery store. Shouldn't take too long.

On another note, I contacted the Kernel :D and he told me that the largest they will sell to a regular consumer is 10 oz. "jars". The 36 oz. jars are for the concession stands only. To place an order for the 10 oz. jars, you have to call a special number.

Yep, the one I bought at WallyWorld was small. Unless the flavor was extremely popular, it isn't a bad size to start out with. I went sort of nutty with the last powerbuy and have way too much Pop 'n Glaze cartons. They do taste good, but it will take me until 2010 to go through them all. Having the small size might be a good idea if you were going to have a lot of different flavors in your theater and let everyone season to taste. I will start with the White Cheddar this weekend, and go from there. :p

Let us know how you like it. You'll find that you have to use a lot of it just to taste it. At least that was my experience. Thus the need for larger quantities. But, then again, I like cheese. :D

Just curious, those using the pre-packs, do you pour off the butter flavored salt that is in the packs before popping? Seems you'd want 'plain' popcorn if you were going to flavour it other than "movie-theater-butter'

When I am using the pre-packs, and I want to make 'plain' popcorn, I just snip a small corner off the popcorn section and drain out the salt into a little cup. You can then use it later if you want a really salty batch. I hate to be wasteful, so I don't throw out the flavorcol that is in the pouch, even though I have a big bottle of it that as well.

Well, I don't know about that "kernel" of information! I just visited the "Kernel" :D myself and it appears to me they have several different sizes available including a "mega 5# Kernel." So, it depends on which "Kernel" you contact. Also, depending on which "Kernel" you contact below on the links provided gives you several different ordering and shipping options. ;) So contact which ever "Kernel" you please. The "Kernel" has the fixins! Hehehehehe.........the "Kernel Does It Right!" :)

I have to agree with the previous poster, it takes a good bit of the white cheddar topping to make it taste good. I can see how one of the little containers would only last a short time. It wasn't bad, but I doubt I get any more of it. I will stick to butter and the occasional chocolate or caramel from Pop n Glaze.

I've been enjoying this stuff in my local theatre for years now. Didn't realize we could get it in stores (I've looked). I bought some stuff from target a few years back that purported to be "white chedder" but it wasn't the same.

In the theatre, we always pour some into a napkin to add to the popcorn once we're halfway down the bag. Saves us a trip back to the lobby. :)

That reminds me of the days, as a kid, when I would open up the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese box, just to get the powdered cheese and sprinkle it over my popcorn. Mmmmm...those were the days.

It was even better snorted directly from the aluminum foil pouch! :D
