Hi all,

I am setting up an entertainment system in my new family room which is part of an extension I am putting on my house and I need some help.

I have decided thus far that I am going with the Panasonic TH-50PZ750 plasma tv and that I want a 5.1 surround sound system. I have yet to pick out a A/V receiver but I first need help picking out speakers before I do that.

As for speakers I would like to have the 2 rears in ceiling and I was thinking of putting the front 3 in ceiling as well but I might be able to get away with doing the FR and FL speakers in wall between the studs (I have 11.5" on either side) but the center is going to be above the TV because of the fireplace.

I was thinking of using Speakercraft or Sonance speakers for this setup but I am really confused on what to do so any advice would be great. My budget for speakers is around $1500-2000.

A pic of my family room can be seen below. I am going to have built in cabinets on either side of the fireplace but I will have about 15" between the mantle and the start of the cabinets so maybe I can get a in wall speaker there instead of using the celing.

Thanks in advance for any help!

There is an article in the current (June/July) issue of The Perfect Vision on ceiling speakers which compares a range of very good in-ceiling speakers at various price points. It might help you decide. Good luck.
