Will it be overly picky to have the cable guy come back to run an entirely new and separate cable for my internet/cable? The cable modem and HD box are in the same room.
The HD channels look great, I haven't had a chance to check out the regular channels. I'm not picky about internet connection so long as it's stable.
I plan on replacing the splitter with a Monster 2 way splitter if I leave the set up the way it is.

"If it ain't broke - don't fix it" - words to live by....
Another one - " Monster cables aren't any better than the $5 equivalent"

All they would do is move the splitter to your outside box....unless you want to buy a second subscription.
That's a fairly standard practice. The signal drop from one splitter should not affect your picture quality or internet speeds - the feed from most operators can easily power 4 TVs before amplification is needed.

yeah it is a bit overly picky, especially if you do not have problems with your speed and HD quality at the moment.

A Mon$ter 2 way splitter will not work better then the one that's there now. Many know Mon$ter is overpriced junk.

As long as the signal levels are good leave it alone.

*Sigh* There are still people in the world that don't know Monster products are a rip off...

Comcast's cable splitter is actually better than Monster's as I have used both.

Which splitter does comcast use?
Many Comcast systems use PCT (http://www.cencom94.com/gpage.html). Holland is also Comcast approved

ComCast buys splitters by the thousands (millions?) so they tend to change brand from time to time. One thing they don't really change is the spec of their splitters.
