Hi, I posted this question over the in new Onkyo 605 thread but it seems to have been glossed over as it is more of a connection / cabling issue than anything else. Can some here please clear this up for me?
All,
I currently have both optical inputs on the 605 in use. One for my PC and the other for my DVD player. I have an XM receicer called an XM-PCR that has been modified to have an optical output. I tested this out the other day and found it to be working when I run it into one of the optical inputs.
So, I figured all that I needed to do was get an optical / coaxial converter box:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...format=2&style=
And then run the coaxial output of that into either the 605's coax 1 or coax 2 input. I ran it into coax 1, and went into setup and assigned the "game/TV" to coax 1. I then chose "Game/TV" as the input source and lo and behold there was no sound
I did plug in the converted box using the supplied power supply. There are no lights on the unit so there is no way of telling if it is working or not. Since I have never used "coaxial" inputs I wasn't sure what kind of cable to use. I just used a standard RCA cable that was part of a 3 connector video-left-right cable. I used the yellow video cable. Maybe the cable is the wrong cable?
