I've had continual problems with my Integra DPS-10.5 universal player which refuses to play many of the RCA Living Stereo SACDs, many of the SF Sym. and RCO Live SACDs and other SACDs from various labels. I have heard someone else having a similar problem with an Onkyo player. Now I've heard from someone with an SACD-only player - the Sony NS 999ES - and he has exactly the same problem with the Living Stereo SACDs! We have contacted the manufacturers and have been totally ignored about this problem. I solve it by simply playing any discs which bring up "No Disc" on my Integra on my Oppo 981HD.
I'm a reviewer and so play a greater variety of SACDs than most player owners. I've even gotten the No Disc on certain video DVDs. It happens even with stereo-only SACDs, so doesn't seem to be tied in with the surround layer. Should I post this on the audio players forum as well? Does anyone know about this and have any suggestion?? - I'm beginning to think its a fault in the chip that manufacturers are using in some players, and/or some sort of inconsistency in certain SACD pressing plants.

If your unit is typically on Stand-By when not in use, you may want to try turning off all power for at least 30 seconds before powering back up and see if it clears the problem. I have the Integra Research player and processor. I very infrequently experience the No Disk message. I also have my units connected via Firewire. When loading a disk, the processor auto switches to the player input. When this stops happening, I find shutting down all power for a short time seems to reset the unit(s) of these symptoms.

Thanks - I'll try the powering down for :30 - that works with my Sunfire processor problems so maybe that's the answer here.
If not, Kal - who is your Integra contact? I've had no response from mine for almost a year now.

My Denon2200 has intermittent problems tracking discs. Often it has difficulty tracking the CD layer of hybrid SACDs. I've noticed that certain discs are more prone to problems than others. Usually I can re-seat the disc slightly differently in the tray and it will track properly. Sometimes it takes several tries.

Will,
Thanks so much for your powering-down suggestion. It worked! Why nobody at Integra or Onkyo ever suggested that I don't know. The DPS-10.5 now plays everything I throw at it! I should have thought of that since when I upgraded from the Sunfire Theater Grand IV to the V I found the new version highly unstable, and often when I am switching inputs or trying to change bitstream decoding formats it goes berserk and turns itself off, requiring be to powered down to fix it.

I'm glad this did work out for you. I have found the sound quality quite enjoyable with these units. It's a shame the manufacturer is not more user responsive.
