hi all,

years ago there was a utility called CopyDoubler (part of the SpeedDoubler package) that was an essential for me. It allowed me to take a large folder, drag it to another location (server, Jaz, whatever), and it would only copy over that which was new or different.

I've not been able to find a similar utility with OS X.

I am looking for it primarily to keep media libraries synced between laptop and NAS. For instance, I ripped most of my collection in Lossless to a new NAS, but still have a bunch of music on my laptop that was either purchased from ITMS or given to me by friends. But I don't want to drag my whole local music folder over the NAS b/c I don't want to replace the newly-ripped lossless versions with my lower AAC versions. I just want to copy over stuff that is not already there.

Any ideas?

thanks!

rsync will do that. It's a command line utility though. You can get a GUI interface for it here:

I used Carbon Copy Cloner for years. Not anymore. SuperDuper is an even better choice!
