View Full Version : Dvico TViX and wireless computers/router?

I so happy with my Tvix 4000, but just bought a TV with built in network card. That "forced" me to go wireless with 2 computers. Unfortunately the Netshare program doesn't work "through" those computers, the TViX can't find them.

Obviously I have to configure something annoyingly complicated on the new router (D-Link Gamer Lounge, better than cable in games - really!).

I guess I could try "slow" sharing (sharing folders instead of the netshare program) but I really, really don't wanna do that on those computers. They're also only running 54Mbit, so I probably won't really use them much with the TViX, but it's annoying not being able to connect to all computers!

So? Any suggestions?

Ulrikb,

This is an issue some other people here have had. Have a look in the other tvix threads here. I recall some got it working.
You are still using cable from tvix to Dlink router right?
Have you tried other NFS servers? (allegro, ProNFS etc.) (you can get them in trial versions)
Can't remember if you need to open any ports on the Dlink either, or in your firewall.
But do a search and you might an answer.

Yeah, still using cable between the Tvix and my router. All the computers connected with a cable works fine with tvix, but with the wireless the tvix pauses for quite some time, and then says it can't connect to it.

I didn't find anything about it in the FAQ either. Considering the fact that the Tvix now supports wireless itself, there shouldn't be any problem. I *am* running a secure wi-fi, but that's something between the computer and the router, so I shouldn't have to open up ports and stuff. I could see Norton Internet security causing problems, since it's a "new" network, but it's running on the same rules as the "old" one. (Tried turning it off, didn't do anything)

The long pause tells me it seems to find the computer, but isn't allowed to access the files anyway. Fun part is, f'coz that the netscare program says "connected with TViX" :)

I couldn't find any solution in any other threads, but then again: There's quite a lot of info on this forum! :)

I just noticed I can't access any of the other computers either, from the computer with wireless connection... Deffo some weird router setting... So it's off to some fancy wi-fi forum I guess! :)

Actually my wireless computer can access the internet, but not the network at all - I "don't have permission" to do it... And D-link has no information about it whatsoever.

One might think sharing folders, printers etc would be a rather common thing, and therefore something they should include in the manual FAQ. I've wasted most of the day browsing the web to find some info on it, but... nope...

Imagine that...
...updating the firmware solved the problem with the computers... Now let's see if the netshare works too...
Imagine that... That worked too...

The router still insisted that I actually HAD the latest firmware, and I can't find anything that has changed really... But it works! :)

I almost installed the US firmware tho' since they don't link to EU anywhere, and apparently that would have caused some serious problems. EU has a different firmware number too, so...

Well, anyway.... ...problem solved!
