I have an Electrohome Marquee 8500LC CRT projector. What's the best output resolution that I should be using?

Input 1: Component - DirectTV HD Receiver
Input 2: RGBHV - Media PC

Any other settings would be helpful as well as I've been pulling my hair out knowing that I should be able to get something better than VGA?!
