Anyone else have issues with Hellboy and PS3 (FW 1.8)? At the scene when John Myers is first introduced the picture pauses and skips ahead a couple seconds roughly every 3-5 seconds. I tried skipping ahead to see if this was a specific chapter issue, but it kept occurring later in the film. The whole pre-credit sequence worked fine. I also had a similar issue with Layer Cake. It happened only once near the end of the film so I thought it was an isolated issue.

I should also add the first time I played Hellboy, my PS3 gave me a "could not play video file" error but i just went back to the XMB and re-launced the movie and it played.

could it be my PS3?

Hellboy came from Blockbuster Online, and I do notice what look like pits on the disc, not scratches, but very small "holes" on the surface. There are only about 5 of those.

No problems. I've played it about 5 times and with no issues.

its probably the disc. I bought my copy brand new and it plays flawlessly on my ps3(1.8)
Just report to BB online that its unplayable and it will clear your queue of that movie.

Seeing how it's only a rental, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've also had problems with 3 BD rentals from netflix: Two discs had a hairline crack on the edge under the protective layer and the other one just stopped playing in the middle of the movie (nothing visible on the disc.)

I also had a problem with Black Snake Moan where the picture froze and then jumped ahead 10 seconds (1:14:37). I exchanged it for another copy and it did the exact same thing at the exact same spot in the movie.

It really hurts when you're spending close to $30 per title.

Worked perfect on my PS3. Hope you get things working too.
