Hey guys, I hope this hasn't been answered 100 times before, but I have a simple hookup question I was hoping someone could help me with since I'm thinking about switching to Verizon FiOS TV. I currently have Comcast cable for both TV and Internet and if I make the switch to Verizon TV, I have to keep the Comcast Internet connected as it's paid for by my wifes work. So since my Comcast enters the house on the opposite side that my Verizon phone lines (and future fiber I'm guessing) does, I'm just trying to figure out exactly what wiring needs to be run through the house. I want to make sure all of it is done before anyone arrives as I don't trust any installer to do something the way I would want it done. So since I'll be using only the TV from the new ONT, what kind of wiring will be run from there? I thought there was some kind of router that had to be installed, but are they running RG6 to/from that router? Or are they using RJ45 to it? I'm very confused and could really use a little help here. ;)

They tie into your existing cabling in the house for TV. I suggest you run a dedicated line for the cable modem from the Comcast entry point then leave the rest of the system in the house for Verizon.

Thanks. That was my first thought too. I do have one more question though. Will they need to run a direct line into the Comcast internet before any lines reach the TV's? I was wondering if I could just move my Belkin router to where the Comcast line enters the house. That would mean I would only need to flip a splitter to get all my RG6 lines setup for the reverse entry of the new Verizon TV line. Then I could just add a wireless adapter to my pc in the basement. Now that would be easy prep. But I'm guessing that the line coming from the ONT has to first plug into the internet, then be fed to the TV's?

You need a separate dedicated line to wherever your cable modem is from where your cable enters the house, it can't be shared with the other cabling to the TV's in the house.
The fiber line goes in to the hardware Verizon installs and has an RJ-45 for Internet and a standard F connector to hook into your existing TV cable.

Thanks! I think I have it figured out now. Someone pointed me to this this diagram (http://fiosfaq.com/content.php?contentid=41) which clears it all up for me.
The thing I couldn't grasp is that the RG6 line coming from the ONT is split. One run heads to the STB's, and the other is a single run to the router. I was under the impression that there was an input and an output on the router. I can prep the install now in about 10 minutes.
Thanks again. ;)
