Well I went into Sams Club today specificly to see how much thier remotes were (did not see them on website). Well I walkin    and see the 676 for $45. It was an open package and was the last one; we went and asked them if their were any more (unopened). They told us how because of the "C" at the end of the UPC code, that ment that the remote was discontinued (and that if its the last one then thats it).

As always YRMV. But this was alittle cheaper than the going rate for used 676's on ebay. Plus you have the option of returning if their is an issue. If you need a remote in this range I would go check your sams; as I dont believe this was at $45 because it was opened. It had the price magnetic tag and did not say "opened", plus the employe said that once their gone, their gone (not indicating that it was because it was opened)

The one that was "open", was just opened because the software and maneul were taken out (remote, batteries, cable, and faceplate were definitly untouched since their wasent enough room to get it out because of how much it was opened).

My dad and I are very happy. Two questions, so you just instal the software and then use the desktop icon and log in, right? Reason I ask is it is alot more different than what we used for our 659 (years ago); IMO it was much easier to program before. I heard that you can setup in the website or though software (website being better). I am going though the website....RIGHT?

Second I do not see and downloads for the 676, why is that? Arent other models disconntinued but still listed for dloads? Also do they still support this remote?

Yes to all your questions. I just got one from tigerdirect for $49.00 and went online and programmed it. When you first hook it up to the online software it will establish a connection to confirm the 676 is indeed communicating with the website. From there you can update both software and hardware. Do this and then set it up based on your equipment which you select from a data base. Had mine going in about 30 minutes.
