View Full Version : Do you have an isle between chairs when fully reclined?

I am getting ready to finish my riser design. I was planning on doing a riser that is big enough to move the back row away from the wall a few inches and then keep 6 inches or so between the foot of the back recliner and the head of the front one.

When the recliners are upright this will be a 6' isle. In the interest both of aesthetics and not having my front row at 1x screen width I thought I would just make it so the two middle people in the back row have to ask someone to unrecline to get out...is that going to suck?

It really depends... if the guy in the front row is 6' 5" and 270 lbs, I am not tapping on this shoulder to ask ANY questions.

Jonnio,

I have the same setup you are proposing - my kids make the front row seats almost horizontal, so if you are in the middle of the back row, somebody in the back row will have to unrecline a bit to let them out.

In our case, we rarely have a full complement of people in the room, so this circumstance rarely happens. Depending on your situation, you may simply need to put the people with small bladders on the end of the row. :)

Thanks for the response. I figured it would be a minor inconvenience when we have all 8 seats filled up, but that it wasn't going to be often enough to be a big issue.

I have theater seats and aisle room in front of them I don't have recliners. during last nights movie viewing now fewer than all four people present got up a total of about 6 times to either exit the room or go to concession area during the movie.

I just mention this because this is a bigger factor than I think many people planning their theater realize.
