Hi All,

I'm new to this area, so please forgive lacking vocabulary. I'm looking to record audio from my TV to my laptop (Macbook Pro). My TV (and Xbox360) has TOS audio out, and my laptop has something called, "Combined optical digital input/audio line in (minijack)".

I'm looking to get the highest quality possible, and my laptop input jack is the part confusing me. Can someone recommend a cable that provides the best connection between TV and laptop? I would prefer using the built-in audio jack, but I will consider firewire conversion also if it's easy to recommend or explain!

Any help is appreciated. On a side note, I'm planing to use Audacity to record the audio, and I'll take additional recommendations on software if something will work better.

Thanks!!

Here is the cable (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022902&p_id=1556&style=&seq=1&format=1#largeimage) you are looking for.

It has Toslink connection on one end and optical mini jack on the other. This is a 3-footer but they're available in longer lengths from the same source.

If you already have a Toslink cable that you can use, here is an adapter (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10423&cs_id=1042301&p_id=2671&style=&seq=1&format=1#largeimage) that wll convert one end of a standard Toslink cable to the optical mini jack.
