Hey Everyone,
I have done alot of reading in regards to speaker wire. I think I have my brand picked out finally!!!
My question is how many have gone with 4 conductor over 2 conductor in order to install volume control near your light switches?
How important is this feature?
Do you have to run 1 set of + and - from each speaker to the control?
thank you.

Sorry to keep bumping but I really want to order my wire :)
Can anyone give me some insight on this?
WS
One speaker (mono)? 1 pair
Two speakers (stereo)? 2 pairs
What are the instructions/specifications of the "volume control"?

Thats basically what i'm asking.
I read on these forums that it is wise to run all speakers to a central switch near your lighting to turn them down if need be...is this not true?
thanks.
You can place it where it is most convenient for you.

OK.
Do most people do this or do most go with a simple 2 conductor config?

If you're using keypads and a distributed audio amp, you run the wires directly to the speakers and a cat5 to where the lights are for the keypad. They all go back to the head end and the volume is controlled by the amp itself. A 6 zone amp has 6 separate amps that can adjust volumes independently. This is a much better way to do it. If you still want to use volume controls in the rooms, run the cat5 anyway in case you want to change it later to keypads.
