Hello...

Two questions perhaps someone here can answer. I have a Scientific Atlantic 8300 HDPVR. I would like to do the following

1. Just record audio from some of the music only channels. What would be the best way to do this? Use the digital audio out from the PVR to the digital audio in on my powerbook?

2. I have read a few posts about recording video from the PVR. I realize I have to record from channels that show the EMI as copy freely. Even when I do this with AVCVideoCap I cannot open the file with VLC or MPEGStreamClip. Any ideas? I have the latest version of VLC.

I've used iRecord (sorry can't post the URL, you can Google it) to capture video from my 8300HD to my MacBook, but I can only capture stuff recorded from an analog channel. If the channel is digital, data appears to stream and I get an appropriately-sized file, but the video stream appears blank when played back by VLC or MPEG Streamclip.
