I am looking for the best way to stream my media from my office PC to my bedroom.
My wife doesn't want a bunch of equipment in there if at all possible.
I want to stream music (all mp3's) videos (mpeg, avi & dvr-ms if possible since I have a htpc in the basement with MCE 2005 running on it) to my 32" Westinghouse LCD TV in my bedroom. Live TV would be nice too but so far it suffers too much quality wise. I purchased the Hauppauge Wireless MediaMVP. I've tried the software shipped with it... horrible interface and etc, I've tried GB-PVR which is great but it seems to suffer from playback quality. I don't know if this is GB-PVR or the Media MVP's fault. When I switch from regular tv coming straight in to streaming live tv the drop in quality is very noticeable. I've tried all kinds of tweaks and even purchased Nvidia's purevideo decoder which helped some but not enough. I'm using a Hau PVR150 on my PC so I tried the tweak tool with that a little but it never really got any better in my opinion.
So I also downloaded the trial version of Beyond TV and that was much better quality wise for video playback and live TV quality, but I still like GB-PVR's options a bit better but I will trade options for picture quality. My htpc in the basement running MCE 2005 doesn't seem to have the loss in picture quality so I'd go with Windows Media Center in my office but I don't think I can stream that to my bedroom without doing a bunch of file converting first.
Anyway after reading these message boards I've got to thinking maybe I should go with a different device than the MediaMVP. Possibly one that can play HD and has better picture quality.
Anyone with any info or past expierances that are similar, I would love to hear about it!!
