I am in the market for a TV that is no wider than 65". Most 65" wide TVs work fine.
I'd strongly prefer HDMI 1.3 and 120Hz refresh rate.
Can you please suggest the best TV under say....$6000?
TVs I have considered:
Sony KDS-60A3000
Samsung 6189S (the LED one)
Mitsubishi WD-65833
upcoming Toshiba 57" LCD
I have also considered some plasmas (1080p).
Do you have any recommendations? If so, please give me the model name and the MSRP.
Thanks

in a plasma the new pioneer 6010 60" 1080p 8G Kuro model with the deep blacks and higher contrast should give you excellent PQ. they are due out late august or sept. hopefully. msrp $6500 but should find a better deal once they are released from the forum sponsors. the Elite version is the Pro150HD for $7500.
I'm interested in the Sony KDS-55A3000 when it comes out myself. I believe I read every long thread in the rear projection forum to come to that decision.
I looked at the current gen of Samsung LED/DLP's in the stores. If DLP's are notorious for bad viewing angles, then the Samsungs had the worst of them. I couldn't deal with such a small sweet spot.
For the longest time I was interested in a Mitsubishi DLP, but was talked out of it because I picture myself (pun intended) being very sensitive to color wheel artifacts and RBE. I personally didn't experience that myself, but then I only watched it for a few minutes in the store. Knowing me, I would be. I get headaches fairly easily just staring at CRT monitors at less than 85Hz.
So considering my budget, it's a Sony LCOS display for me. If money were no object, I'd get a similarly big (60") Plasma or LCD. But they cost almost twice as much.

Yes, all these great LCDs are out...but no 60" (at least not reasonably priced). I'm most likely going to get the Sony 60A3000.

So how did everyone’s search go?
I've been looking for the same thing, 60" - 65" and am very susceptible to the color wheel artifacts. My brother has the 55" Sony and its pretty good but I find that the screen is very reflective.
Any other options out there??
Thanks

I decided to go with the Sony KDS-60A3000 and I am extremely pleased. The picture quality is amazing. Everything except my satellite DVR is now HDMI 1.3.
There are basically 3 specific things I like most about this TV.
1. Picture (Color/Brightness) Options. Out of the box, it is in "Vivid" mode. I liked this mode at first because it is very much like the Samsungs I had seen in the store (always very bright), however, I realized that for me this was too bright and vivid. I then changed to "Standard" and it was much more realistic and still bright. I created a custom setting to find middle ground between the 2 picture modes.
2. Video effects (Motion enhancer, Cinemotion). You can tweak these as you see fit. It makes it look like you are the cameraman with very smooth pans. It is something you have to see for yourself to really understand. It is very unique.
3. Cross Menu Bar. The menu (very similar to the PSP or PS3 XMB) is so nice and easy to use. It allows you to set the above effects and preferences for each input. The menu is very intuitive with a lot of options.
Some in the A3000 thread are claiming geometry issues. I have not had that. I had professional installers deliver mine (they also set up my 5.1 surround system and components). They said the picture was as good or better than the plasmas and LCDs they had installed. I could tell they were being genuine rather that just trying to make sure I liked it.
Whether or not that is true, for the price, this is an excellent option.
