According to French site DVDrama (http://www.dvdrama.com/news.php?21050), a compilation containing all of Pixar's short films (including the latest one, Lifted) will be released on DVD and Blu-ray late in the year.

Traditionally, Pixar has placed the shorts shown before their movies on the DVD releases of those movies. I wonder if they will continue to do that with Blu-ray? If so, why would you purchase this? Unless, of course, we get the uncensored version of Knick-Knack!

Might be for those of us who like the shorts but dont plan on buying all the movies they come on.

Or the convinience of having them all in one place.

Hopefully there will be a U.S. announcement soon. The Dead or Alive trailer actually looked decent. :P

This is good news. Hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg and pixar films aren't far off from being released on bluray.

I would love to have that. It would be a great gift for the kids around the holidays.

(Sony/Fox/Disney says) too bad for all REGION A loosers if this comes out in France/Europe as a REGION B only.

Well, now you know how it feels :(

Agreed on both counts.

Thanks for the heads up Grubert. I look forward to adding the BD to my collection, assuming it'll play on U.S. players of course.

Joke will be on you guys if it is released as Region B with English only audio and no foreign subs. :D

I'm sure it will probably be released stateside around the same time as the European release. Sure would be nice to have Nemo, Monsters, Toy Story and Cars to go along with this.

While I love these shorts, that is way too much in terms of a MSRP.

Amazon should have it for $23.95 before 10% discount and/or free s/h.

You do realize that only Fox slaps region coding on all their releases right? There is absolutely no reason to believe this would be anything but region ABC.

Some of the recent US Sony releases even include a bunch of european subtitles including Swedish ;)

Ok, what is "Knick-Knack" and why is it censored?

I believe "Knick-Knack" is the snow globe one and one of the original shorts Pixar did before they really started doing films. There is a woman in a bikini in it and Pixar made her breast smaller when it was released in theaters a few years ago. I think, although I maybe mistaken, that the original appeared uncensored in the big Toy Story laserdisc collection.

Nov 6 is, and I see an 11/6 date there.. maybe just a typo?

Very cool but a wee bit high MSRP, just IMHO.
It's not like these have to be restored or anything, just slapped on.

It is only $5 more than the DVD, seems within reason to me and inline with other Disney releases.

No doubt. But the DVD is too high too. Aren't most of these shorts like under 10 minutes?
What's the total? An hour and a 1/2...?

Yeah, it should be interesting to see which version they put on this new collection. I've known about the "difference" for several years now, but I've never seen the original outside of the pictures.

I got the disc at a hifi fair. I watched the first 6 shorts. They are in chronological order. It's a high bit rate AVC compressed disc. The first 4 shorts are taken from standard definition video tape and look like ok quality DVD. Obviously no digital files survive. The rest is from digital files and in HD (well, I have watched only 2 but I see no reason while the rest should fall back to SD video again). The 2 HD shorts (Knick Knack and Geri's Game) I watched looked excellent. Sound is great too.
