As the title implies, I have a question about the 360 VGA cable and my 37HL67: Will it be compatible? My t.v. is 1366 x 768 but, through various reviews, the cable only supports up to 1360 x 768.

I have the 32" version and it only accepts 1024x768 from a VGA input, whereas other sets accept native 1366x768. That said, the Toshiba looks beautiful. The notorious "jaggies" in Forza 2 are well reduced compared the other in both VGA and component. I have purchased and returned 4 other sets in the past month to compare PQ from 360 on them. The toshiba looked the best and was one of the cheaper sets I bought. I tested the Samsung 32" 53H, Sony XBR2, Sharp (model ?), Vizio 32VXL and a JVC (model ?). All were calibrated using an avia disk. I can try and get some screen shots when my camera gets back from the shop, but that may be a week or two. Hope that helps.

Oh yea, the Toshiba is also among the most reliable of the sets (according to what I read over in the LCD section of avsforum). :)

Hm, sorry, but yes or no (sorry, I'm very, very new to this)? Also, what might be the best settings for it? (Question is still in the guidelines of the thread, as it is not of a "specific" topic, so much as about Toshiba's T.V.'s AND VGA cables for the 360.)

To give a clear answer: Yes, the VGA cable will be compatible with your TV. You will need to make sure the resolution in the Xbox Settings is set to 1024x768 though. -My 360 did not detect the correct resolution (it set it too high where the TV couldn't display it) at first, but after I changed the settings everything worked great. That is the tricky part- You can't see anything your doing when you're trying to change the settings (obviously) so I had to plug the 360 into my PC monitor, set it to 1024x768 then plug it into my TV. Hope that helps! :)

I seemed to have run into a problem, the VGA cable isn't detecting the right resolution, causing the t.v. to show an unsupported video signal message.

Any help?

yeah start up the console with component, memorize the button sequence to navigate to the settings menu in the 360 and then plug in your VGA cable and adjust accordingly. I had to do this w/ my TV, it is a huge pain in the butt but there is no way around it. Another thing to do is plug the 360 into a pc monitor and set it to 1024x768 from there then plug it into your TV.

The reason you get the "unsupported video signal" is because the toshiba's don't accept 1366x768 resolution from VGA even though that is their native resolution. the highest they support is 1024x768, yet the Xbox "sees" a TV that can produce 1366x768 and therefore outputs that resolution which does not work. Like I mentioned before, the set still looks amazing even compared to the most expensive LCD's in its class. :)

I tried just about everything I could, and still no. Thanks for the help, anyway! I'll just stick to component for now, because I already made the adjustments, and I don't feel like re-adjusting it.

The T.V. still looks fantastic.
