I have the Onkyo 605 and I am already using both hdmi inputs, one for my Direct TV reciver the other for my PS3. I would like to trade in my Xbox 360 premium for am Elite. Is there a way that I could hook this up to my Onkyo 605 with hdmi? Is there an adapter that I can use? Thanks for the help.

Search monoprice for external hdmi switcher-

I assume what he is saying is the Onkyo has two HDMI inputs. And his tv has 1. So he currently uses the Onkyo as a HDMI switcher between DirectTV and the PS3. He would like to get an Elite, but wants to use the HDMI connection. That would cause a conflict because he now has 3 HDMI devices and only 2 HDMI inputs.

If that is indeed the case, I can think of a few options:

1) Cheapest - Use component to run the DirectTV analog video feed and Toshlink optical to run the digital sound to your Onkyo. DirectTV is satellite service which means its signals are heavily compressed. You should notice zero difference switching from HDMI to component as the picture itself is the weakest video source in your HT.

2) Some what Cheap - external HDMI switcher. Nuff said.

3) Not at all Cheap - new reciever with (4) HDMI inputs. I say (4) because you already have 3 HDMI devices planned.. if your going to upgrade your reciever.. might as well go the extra step now versus having to upgrade again when you purchase your 4th HDMI device.

I see a lot of people using the monoprice 5x1 switch

get the monoprice one, not too $$... and i would run the 360 and directv through that, and the ps3 through the receiver directly, as it might have different settings due to its better audiot output.

i think there's even a monoprice switch that your remote can trigger, so you won't have to push a button every time.

Like the above poster said the 5x1 @ monoprice-good reviews. The 4x1 has great reviews as well. No personal experience yet.
