I just got a 550 and like it very much. Except when trying to get it to learn new IR commands. It seems to have a problem with any of my other controllers - 2 DVR's, 2 TV remotes and an AV remote. I generally get no response or a message indicating poor IR quality. I try varying the distance and angle between the to devices. After 3 - 4 minutes of fiddling around, the Harmony finally will read the incoming IR command. Is this normal, or is there something I don't understand?

Dumb question....

My H880 was the infrared learning port on the bottom of the remote. Is that where the 550's port is? Are you pointing the original remote at the bottom of the 550?

The 550 port is in the same place, on the bottom (end).

I don't know then. I've programmed about five or six "learned" buttons and I had no problems. I put the remotes about an inch away from each other end to end. The 880 detects it every time.

Appreciate it. I'll check with LogiTech - may be a sour unit.

Not yet. Haven't heard back from Logitech yet.

I finally heard back from Logitech. They said the problem was due to light interferance, most likely florescent lights. Sigh. I'm about to email them back and let them know I was in a totally dark room, and even had switched off my monitor. Nothing worked any different.
