The PS3 is not a Windows Media Center extender. The 360 is, and it works with HD video, both with XP and Vista.

Basically, if you have a PC with any version of Windows with Media Center installed on it, the 360 will act as a front end to Media Center. It is a great interface for watching recorded TV, setting up recordings with the on screen guide, playing back music via play lists, viewing photos, viewing videos, etc...

My advice is to come up with a brief list of what you want to do as far as media extending. Then ask how you do those things in both the 360 and PS forums. Youll find out if either system can do it and how easy it is to do it.

attempted to use 360 extender but i rather have a dedicated machine for pc use. i would look up some info in the htpc threads. i'm in the process of updateing mine now. Dell actually has some good deals on lower end pc's do some basic multimedia stuff. load it up with some Hard drive space, decent vid card and away you go.

Get an HD Tuner card or USB dongle. BB has a good one on sale this week.
If you're running XP MCE or Vista Home Premium on your PC, you can stream live TV, among *many* other things to the 360.
