TheDigger 07-11-07, 03:41 PM It's an awesome game. May not seem so now b/c its over 10 years old but at the time is was phenomenal. assasyn 07-11-07, 03:51 PM It's an awesome game. May not seem so now b/c its over 10 years old but at the time is was phenomenal. Very much so. Best game I had on my Mac! ;) If people can still play the original Doom, they should enjoy Marathon. Thrillhouse17 07-11-07, 04:21 PM It looks amazing running in high rez, I can't wait. 257Tony 07-12-07, 12:23 AM I believe they are actually releasing "Marathon: Durandal" which was Marathon 2 correct? I could be wrong but I swear thats what I saw....Very excited either way. onlysublime 07-12-07, 02:33 AM Marathon was okay. Not the Doom killer that the Mac people were claiming. We had fun playing multiplayer but it was such a sterile game. The enemies were lame. There was nothing scary. nothing like a pink beast knawing on your arse. 257Tony 07-12-07, 12:37 PM Marathon was okay. Not the Doom killer that the Mac people were claiming. Yeah, becuase we all know that Dooms MP was terrific  And I love how in Doom you didn't have to bother with things like "aiming and looking up" you could just point and the the bullets would magically just rise up to your opponent. If Marathon had been released on PC it obviously would have sold many times the amount that it did. mark_j 07-12-07, 12:44 PM never played the original version of this game, so not sure if I would be worth it for me, I'll have to check out the trail I have been playing (and still am) playing Doom on Live, but I think it's more that it brings back fond memories of playing it back in the day... Now if we were to see Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, or Rise of Triad, I'd definately pick those up :) 5150 07-12-07, 03:16 PM Marathon was okay. There was nothing scary. nothing like a pink beast knawing on your arse. Unlike Doom, it had a well-developed story line. For 1994 it was pretty amazing. If scary was your bag, your should have played Bungie's Marathon predecessor, Pathways Into Darkness. Robocop2 07-12-07, 05:35 PM when is this coming? Mark_Likes_Games 07-12-07, 06:12 PM Man - I wonder if this means there's a chance they could do Myth: The Fallen Lords for arcade. Now THAT would be cool. That was one of the few games I bought for PC...but I never got to finish it before my PC gave out... 257Tony 07-12-07, 06:43 PM Man - I wonder if this means there's a chance they could do Myth: The Fallen Lords for arcade. Now THAT would be cool. That was one of the few games I bought for PC...but I never got to finish it before my PC gave out... That would be awesome! My youngest brother used to play that like there was no tomorrow, he was actually ranked one of the top players in the world on the Bungie servers at the time.... HeadRusch 07-12-07, 10:03 PM Did Bungie do the Marathon-clone game that used the artists from KMFDM to do the graphics, or was that another group who licensed the Marathon engine...?? Or am I mixing my ancient game history here... :D (UPDATE) Nope, I was right...my aging memory holds onto gaming details like a rusty steel trap! :D http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/pc/reviews/zpc-2b7e4c.html 5150 07-12-07, 10:27 PM I can't imagine Myth without a mouse. onlysublime 07-12-07, 10:38 PM Yeah, becuase we all know that Dooms MP was terrific  And I love how in Doom you didn't have to bother with things like "aiming and looking up" you could just point and the the bullets would magically just rise up to your opponent. If Marathon had been released on PC it obviously would have sold many times the amount that it did. multiplayer Doom was fun. plus the co-op was great! Marathon was good because it was easier to have multiplayer sessions. But the guns were lame and sounded like "ptew.. ptew. ptew." even the heavy guns sounded weak. nothing sounded like you were causing mayhem. Mac people saw Marathon like it was their savior game. Like Sony fans cheering Killzone as a Halo killer without playing a single minute of Killzone or Halo. I had a lot more fun with Duke Nuke'em than Marathon. 257Tony 07-12-07, 10:47 PM multiplayer Doom was fun. plus the co-op was great! But for me a solid story trumps guns sounds, and marathons story line was light years ahead of Duke or Doom (although I played all those also) |
