Paramount seems to be commited to making this a combo release for some reason- so with that in mind, how do you think they would best serve the fans with this release-

Fans with standard DVD players will have the high-def version in their hands as well. This will give them an incentive to purchase an HD DVD player.

this will be a huge boost for the HD DVD :)

I refuse to buy combo/double sided discs. Now if it did what Freedom 1 did then I would be all for it. Otherwise I'd rather not own the movie/show at all in high-def.

I did not vote in the poll because I want HD only on one side of a disk but will not be waiting for the Bd version since I do not have a Bd player.

Your wording in the choices makes things a little unclear. Also, for the purpose of this poll, I don't think I would have included choices for people 'who don't care'. Price and Content are two different things.

Since the Original Series is already out on standard DVD, and seeing as two episodes are on the standard DVD, then an HD only version should come out, but with 4 episodes, minimum, per disc.

There were 79 episodes; at 2 per disc they made a killing on selling 40 DVDs. Can you imagine buying 40 HD-DVDs at $20 apiece? Ludicrous. ($800) Even at 4 episodes per HD DVD, that is still 20 discs you'd have to buy. Even paying $120 PER SEASON is ludicrous. ($600 total) (40@$15each=$600)

No matter what format it comes out on, paying anything more than $20 - $30 PER SEASON is unreasonable. The plain fact is that they can cram a good 8 episodes per HD DVD disc, which still means having to buy 10 HD-DVDs. At $25 per disc the price is still too high. Which means that they will have to trickle them out to trick you into paying their price (ala "Seinfeld"). Chances are good that the price will be $40 - $60 per season, which is more in line with today's prices of other popular shows.

But if you guys want to pay $150 per season, more power to you. I can always wait until the prices fall to realistic levels.

Yeah it's crunch time for Paramount.

They can either make this the disc great and hit it out of the park, or they can bungle it up with high disc prices.

If they charge any more than $60 per season, well then the release will be a bust. BTW, the only people who are interested in this set are those who had purchased the original dvds, or the box sets already. I for one would spring for the upgrade, but not for big $$$. The remastered dvd box sets look great already.

Why do you say that Paramount has never charged under $100 a season for any of their shows, why would they make it cheaper on HD with the DVD side as well. I think people are asking way to much of these studios in terms of pricing.

Well, to be honost I don't know what the MSRP on the season box sets are. I think that I paid $60 each for the sets at costco, so I expect the season sets to sell for the same price. Like I said, most people who are interested already bought the episodes anyway, if they charge more than the box sets sold for, they won't sell many discs. IMO.

This will not come cheap. The ST tv franchise still is one of most expensive to own when compared to other shows.

Yep, this is going to be extremely expensive.

This needs to be a public poll.

I'd guess $150 a season. As the dvds sould for$100 per at first. I don't think that would be to bad as theirs only 3 seasons..
