I finally did it, and baught the xbox 360 elite and a copy of Forza 2. Man am I impressed. Too bad forza is only 1080i =(. Picture still looks great on my 50" sony A2020. Been patiently waiting, and I just couldnt wait any longer....well, back to the races!!!

Oh, I assumed (my first mistake) that because it said 1080i on the back the game supported it, hmm didn't know. I wonder why they would put resolutions on the back of the case if they wern't true? I know on the back of the case for the game dirt it says 1080p (does the game dirt not support 1080p)?? I have the elite going to my tv through hdmi, my set is 1080p....??

Those are the resolutions that the game can be scaled to. Most HD games these days are developed in 720p, since that is what the majority of FP displays natively support.

it will scale to whatever your 360 is set at. If you have an elite connected to a 1080p tv and set your 360 to 1080p wit will display at 1080p(it's scaled) but it will be a 1080p signal.

Seriously tough, who cares. If you thought it looked good at 1080i (even though it renders at 720), it still looks good. Dirt looks great even if it doesn't render at 720. I swear to god if dirt rendered at 1080 and looked exactly the same everyone would be fanatic about how awesome it looks at 1080.

Games will always be rendered progressive. Interlace is only on the box to make sure no one doesn't buy it because their TV doesn't support 720p.

Oh, forza 2 looks amazing. I dont care what resolution its putting out as long as it looks good. I just got my 360 elite, and I wasnt sure of what resolution was being fed to my tv.
