View Full Version : Blood Diamond -- Cheaper at Circuit City
hurleyjj 07-11-07, 09:05 PM This thread is a heads up to Best Buy shoppers like me.
I just picked up Blood Diamond tonight (was meaning to last week but never got around to it). It was $34.99 at Best Buy. That's higher than I expected. I was thinking $29.99.
So I head over to Circuit City for something else, decide to look at their HD-DVD's (I've never bought one there before) and it was $24.99. Yes, TEN DOLLORS CHEAPER. I bought it and will return the other one to BB tomorrow for my $10.
So, if you haven't bought Blood Diamond yet and need or want to, go buy it at Circuit City. I very well may start going to CC now for first-run HD-DVD titles because $24.99 is a fantastic buy!
FYI: I've got no Fry's here. I understand they are cheaper. That's great, but there are no Fry's in Oklahoma. Also FYI: I understand some online retailers may have it cheaper. That's great, too, but this thread is strictly about Best Buy vs. Circuit City pricing.
CC cheaper? no way!!! impossible hehe.
hurleyjj 07-11-07, 09:30 PM Urza... Are you the same "Urza" from Xbox Live? If so, I've played with you all the way back in 2003 with "Midtown Madness 3" and also seen you post quite a bit on the MM3 forum on xbox.com.
But anyway, yeah, usually CC is more expensive. At least always has been from things I've seen. I really don't like CC but in this case they're great and beat the crap out of BB.
the49ola 07-11-07, 10:35 PM I believe Walmart or Target had it for 19.99

That's nice. Wal-Mart's here don't have HD-DVD titles nor Blu-ray. I don't believe the Targets do either.
But as I already said -- This thread's subject is ONLY about CC and BB. Please don't bring up other stores' prices because this thread isn't about other stores. It's about CC and BB. That's it.
Thank you.
thrustbucket 07-12-07, 01:15 AM Wow, OP, you are the only person I have heard of that admits buying HD DVD's from Best Buy. They have the absolute highest prices. Just about any store is going to be cheaper than Best Buy.
Isn't the list on it $28.99?
I usually shop around when buying these as most of the stores that carry HD DVDs are in fairly close proximity. Best Buy ($34.99) and FYE ($38.99) have it for more than list, though FYE was cheaper when it was on sale ($32.99). Dunno if it still is. I have the 10% off Backstage Pass, usually the regular price there slightly exceeds the list, somtimes its a couple of $ cheaper, somtimes it is on sale way cheaper. It is odd to see BB go over the list price at least around here. They sometimes do on a couple of titles ususally they're a couple of $ lower or at least in line with it. I'll buy stuff there when its on sale but generally they don't have what I'm looking for so I'll skip them.
The CC I went to didn't have any. Around here CC is an iffy propostion. They either have it or they don't. Usually they're not much cheaper than BB. I couldn't compare this title as they don't have any. The problem is they almost never get the stuff in. Don't think Matrix showed up there until quite a while after it came out. Heck my $19.99 one was here only shortly after they showed up in the store. Sometimes they'll get stuff and it will be cheaper. I only stop there because of those rare occasions.
I actually ended up buying it at Borders two days later than release (my last stop for a new release title, always no cheaper than list but they almost always have it) which had it at $28.99 w/ the Borders reward thing 20% off coupon and $5 reward certificate I think I paid $18 and some odd cents.
Target around here has about 10 titles, never anything new. Wal-Mart has zero.
I guess it all depnds on if getting it close to release is important, if you'd rather wait it out, want the cheapest price etc. The other factor is how good the stores in your area are.

Okla? There's a Fry's in DFW! You can shop there at the next Red River shootout! :p

As others have mentioned there are cheaper places to purchase the movie, if you don't have one in your area of course you could look online, but since your not interested in saving money good look with your overpriced ass movie :D
Thank You
