spinksjinx 07-12-07, 09:57 AM Pricing could ruin this game when it comes to DLC....The idea of full albums are very appealing but I wonder if we will have the option of picking and choosing as well...Like when buying most albums their are only 3-5 good songs out of 10-15....

for certian bands I'd agree but if they get albums as good as who's next we shouldn't have to worry too much but I do realize that this album download will likely be at least 1800 MSPs.

Thats pricey but hey look at how we got shafted by GH2...Id gladly throw down 1600 points for an album but still prefer a pick and choose format also and would be willing to pay more per song to get that in their...
I hope we get some Kiss and greatest hits albums so we get a more variety of good songs...
JeffChap 07-12-07, 10:39 AM I wonder if I'll be able to play the cowbell on 'Don't Fear The Reaper'?
chad473 07-12-07, 10:48 AM gh3 is really gonna have to wow me to get my money away from this.

maybe that's all the easy drum section is.

GH3 is an after thought.
That's not enough. I gotta have more cowbell!
GH3 is an after thought.
So far GHIII's track list has more songs I care to play and better multiplayer modes.
Nachosgrande 07-12-07, 02:14 PM You can add Metallica - Enter Sandman to that list
I have GhII and the reaon to get GHIII is to get another guitar and play coop (online). If the guitars are interchangable (rock band, GH) then going the rock band way would make sense (to get a 'different' game).

Yeah but the support after those initial songs is what counts in games like these IMO....Out of all of the songs on GH2 I only enjoy about 15 of them...But these games are tricky because of peoples taste in music so you cant please everybody but with DLC you can make a noble attempt...Something GH2 failed to do especially after ranting and raving about THE MOST DLC EVER DOOD!

Yes you can, in fact Rock Band is demonstrated using the X-plorer guitar flawlessly...Shame on GH3 adding a 6th fret though...If they actually are.

fixed there's a few otehrs being confirmed over at the official boards I'll add more when we know exactly what songs and artists. Right now were just hearing certian bands were on there but not which song.
Shizelbs 07-12-07, 03:06 PM Great music lineup

Agreed. I'm a metal head so we have gotten some love on GHI and more on GHII. I don't really see anything on GHIII or Rockband frankly really excites me.
If they added a second bass drum pedal to the drum kit however that would guarantee a purchase. This will limit some of the songs available.
scottro 07-12-07, 03:44 PM Or 'Go With the Flow'?

MORE COWBELL!!! :p
You guys were killing me.
vwbeetlvr 07-12-07, 11:29 PM they said you can use the microphone as a "cow bell"
formulanerd 07-12-07, 11:38 PM really? i thought the mic was only a tambourine.
JeffChap 07-13-07, 10:54 AM I hope it's wireless, because I really need to 'explore the space'.
Caught the folks on G4 playing this last night. Drums looked boring on whatever level they were playing. Probably have to play hard to get anything fun out of that.
I don't ever care to sing.
Half the G4 team failed the song in less than a minute...and it wasn't that hard.

that's becausse less than half of them actually play games but of course it was also the first time playing and hell even I failed terribly at Guitar freaks when I first played.
beezdeez 07-13-07, 01:46 PM Um, can I trade in the Bon Jovi song for something, um, a little cooler?
vertigo235 07-13-07, 06:52 PM I can't wait to buy the Cowbell attachment!

you bounce the mic on your hand for the blue oyster cult song thats the cow bell.
benjamin-benjami 07-14-07, 11:06 AM gh3 is looking worse and worse compared to rock band...
benjamin-benjami 07-14-07, 03:16 PM so after watching some of the videos is the guitar for rock band wireless or not???? it seems that it was a wired in?????
kelleybp 07-14-07, 04:58 PM so after watching some of the videos is the guitar for rock band wireless or not???? it seems that it was a wired in?????
There's a post about this somewhere on Joystiq...they noticed that the guitars at E3 were wired, but Harmonix has confirmed that the xbox 360 guitar will in fact be wireless. The downside is that, because of MS's proprietary wireless tech, Harmonix has to pay MS to use it and that drives the price of the wireless guitar up an extra $20 bucks over the PS3 guitar (which uses bluetooth). What is still unknown is whether a wired version will be offered as a cheaper alternative, and the fact that wired guitars were used at E3 seems to hint that wired peripherals will in fact be an option.
EDIT: keep in mind that the higher xbox 360 price scheme is mere speculation on Joystiq's part...I think its based off of a Harmonix memo they got their hands on. To my knowledge, no official pricing info has been released by Harmonix.

Problem is, the people that did GH2 ARE the people doing Rock Band. GH3 is a new team entirely. I have a feeling you'll get buttraped on teh DLC again.

NO, Harmonix only developed GH1 and 2 they had no control of publishing of the game or DLC content. This time around it's EA and MTV games. Harmonix can only promise to get the DLC content ready for purchase it's up to EA and MTV games ot make it happen.

HeadRusch 07-27-07, 08:37 PM Is anyone else disappointed with whole-album downloads? Frankly, I don't want to play a dozen NIRVANA tracks in a row.............I like the variety and changeups that individual "hit" songs provide.
I mean, Nevermind was the stuff in 91......and by 93 I hated hearing every opening rift of every song on it. :P
Gimme PROBOT's Shake Your Blood!

UH why do you have to play each song in a row? it's not even clear if you have to buy all the songs together yet.
benjamin-benjami 07-28-07, 12:18 PM the key to this is being able to mix and match what songs you want.... if they want to bundle them you should be able to pick your songs..... so if you have to buy 10 songs at a time you could pick from different albums....
chad473 07-28-07, 05:25 PM Territorial Pissings should be a fun one :)
Dipset420 07-29-07, 11:48 PM they need to put in MOBY DICK by LED ZEPPELIN. just 5 minutes of pure drumming, it would be great for this game

Does no one think the reason we got screwed on the 360 DLC is because they (Harmonix/Red Octane/Activision) were rushing the "Encore 80s" add on out the door for PS2 only?
I do.

I do.
I thnk it's related but I doubt it's the main reason. In all likelyhood the DLC content was planned but never contracted to harmonix. Or maybe just teh first few packs we got. RO probably though neversoft would just come in and take over but as it turns out neversoft started from scratch instead of just building on HMX's engine. So RO could either spend more money on reverse engineering more DLC for GH2 or just throw the money into GH3 and just bear through the fan whiplash.

Not at all...I can't wait until my arms fall off trying to mimic Grohl pounding the skins. Nevermind is still in my regular rotation when I work out. Heck, gimme STP's Core or Purple as a full album and I'll take a week off work. Ahhh, the early to mid 90s, those were the good old days, when the true rock gods were all strung out on the smack... :p
Just be glad we're not being "treated" to full Nickelback or Creed albums.
I'll take your PROBOT though. Lemmy rules. Rawk on Rusch...Rawk on. :D
GalvatronType_R 07-31-07, 10:33 AM Sorry, but to get the full Rock Band experience, you'll probably have to spend in the neighborhood of $300-$400 for everything. When a single games costs as much as a console, that's when I draw the line.

No need to be be sorry, we all have to draw our own "lines" .
Just find a friend willing to buy it.
And yeah it's supposed to be ~$200 for the bundle, which is fine with me considering I already have nearly that much into GH1 and GH2 which you can't even play on a PS3  .

thanks for pulling crap out your ass to show us. Even the guesstimates from amazon and gamestop state that the full setup would only be 200. And those guestimates are based on pure speculation HMX has said it over and over nothing is official until they say it is.
thejokell 07-31-07, 12:16 PM Unless Red Octane and Neversoft announce some cool features for GH3 they've been holding back, I'm definitely passing on it for Rock Band. The track list alone is pretty freakin awesome.

Pulling crap out of ass, ha, ha, ha, ha...
Are you literate? To get the WHOLE Rock Band experience, in ADDITION to the "only" $200 or so for the retail box (I'll believe it when I see it), those whole album downloads will not be cheap. Judging by how Harmonix set the GHII downloads (and they weren't even entire albums), I very much doubt that an album or song pack download will only cost 400 points. I could very well see downloading the ENTIRE Rock Band catalog costing close to $100 (that about 8000 points, rocket scientist).
Again, pulling crap out of ass, ha, ha, ha, ha.... ha *respect*
chad473 07-31-07, 02:43 PM who says you have to download everything they put out? Now, if they ship the game with 20 songs, then bitch about it. But if they put on 50-60 like a typical GH and then have a shitload of DLC, I'm all for it. If it's priced reasonably I'll buy some of it. I would never feel that I had to buy all of it just to enjoy the game.
thejokell 07-31-07, 03:17 PM in ADDITION to the "only" $200 or so for the retail box (I'll believe it when I see it)
I pre-ordered mine for $199 at Amazon, and they guarantee that price will not go up. So believe it.
I just can not get excited about this game. Mostly because all my friends suck major ass at these types of games.
I'll just be getting GHIII
thejokell 07-31-07, 03:42 PM I don't care about playing with friends, I just want to play the drums! ;)

Your ignorance makes me murderous. Like others said who the hell told you to buy all the DLC? It's optional douchebag. You don't even have to buy the new guitar controller if you don't want too since the GH 360 controller works just fine. Honestly though I will be downloading both of teh annocued DLC albums because I'm sure they will be worth it. as for making all the extras appealling well duh. I mean that's the idea make a product that people want.
By all means do go out and buy a mic, guitar, bass, and set of drums along with proper amplifiers for everything. Then learn all of teh 40 songs included as wlel as teh 100+ songs planned for DLC this year and see how much that costs you.
dpe8598 07-31-07, 05:24 PM I have to join the camp that this game represents great value. They could have EASILY gotten away with making seperate base and guitar (already exists, singing (already exists), and drumming games. Instead you get all these in one package. You pay a lot for the instruments, but you can pick and choose whichever ones you want. In addition, as mentioned above, you can use the guitar from guitar hero. They will definitely get us with the DLC, but we only have to download what we want from that. Getting entire CDs is WAY better than the DLC that you get w/ guitar hero. This game is going to cost a ton of money to those who want to enjoy all aspects, but it looks like there is a ton to enjoy.
krimson 08-01-07, 01:27 PM Has anybody heard any mention of whether the headset can be used as a mic? It would rock to be able to do the guitar & vocal parts for Nevermind, but I certainly don't have enough desire to sing to go out and buy the mic accessory.

The devs say no, they said the XBL headset doesn't have enough fidelity to work properly. Tey did say any standard usb mic would work though. SO They probably didn't lock out the headset but you will likely get poor results with the headset.
