Full Details of Concorde's HD DVD Releases in Germany (http://hddvdformat.blogspot.com/search/label/HD%20DVD%20Software)

I'd like Underworld, I got Evolution from Xploited and this would complete my Beckinsale fantasy .... LOL.. I sure hope Xploited will carry these--I'd like to have The Jackal too !

I'm in for "Underworld" and while I'm certainly in the minority I'm also in for "POTO" if for no other reason than the audio levels are likely adjusted versus the US release.

Different distributor (Constantin/Highlight)!

Do any of them have extras?

I'm afraid not. At least it says "none" on the official announcement.

Count me in for Tomb Raider 2, it had a kick ass sound design on regular ole DVD. DTS-HD 5.1 should be SWEET!! The Jackal and Underworld Extended Cut would be damn nice too!!

The Jackal for me. The DVD of the Jackal in Germany was one of the early DVD releases and it had forced German subtitles when watching in English. Good to see that they've dropped the forced subtitles so I might pick this up.

Underworld for me too.... kate Beckinsale kicked some major butt in this one- and looked absolutely fantastic in black leather! Sophia Myles is pretty easy on the eyes too :D (http://www.scifidesktop.org.uk/WallpaperStore/Actresses/N-S/Sophia-M/Sophia_Myles_001.jpg)

What's best (cost effective) way to order. Ya know, since the lear is in for maintenance and all... :rolleyes:Xploited Cinema (http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/hd-dvds-c-35.html) has a pretty good selection of imports that are available. When ordering from Xploited, you only pay for US shipping (assuming you're in the US).

I will also Amazon.de (http://www.amazon.de/), Amazon.fr (http://www.amazon.fr/), and Amazon.co.uk (http://www.amazon.co.uk/) but usually only for larger (4+) orders. I just found out today that you can combine orders on Amazon.de and even if it spans two shipments, you will be charged one flat fee for shipping. Prices can be ~$30-35/title depending on quantity and shipping options. Luckily, the Amazon sites are all pretty consistent (I don't read German and was able to combine orders).

Any words on how the transfer of 12 Monkeys is going to be compared to its North American counterpart?

Also, is there any mentioning anywhere confirming English subtitles in all the titles mentioned above? I have to turn the subtitles on since I can't turn the volume full blast in the apartment complex I'm living. (A major bummer I might add)

Does any one have any idea how much these HD-DVDs actually cost in Germany?

As this thread has all the details of the Concorde HD DVD releases..., I would like to suggest that people who are now owners of these releases please post your comments here.

Silent Hill looks beautiful - it maintains the amazing detail of the Blu-ray release while avoiding the horrible compression artefacts.

Underworld is not quite as eye-popping, but still very very nice and hard to fault in any way.

Do you have Underworld: Evolution? How does it compare to it?

Thanks!

I don't have Underworld: Evolution, I'm afraid. I had the standard def DVD and thought the film was crap, so didn't bother upgrading. Judging by the screenshots I've seen of the Spanish UE HD DVD, though, I think they're probably pretty similar-looking.

I already posted my impressions of the "The Jackal" HD DVD here in this thread:

I also included some 1080p screenshots of the movie itself and photos of the disc and case.

NONE of those have ANY extras, just the movie itself and 2 audios.

The PQ is like Tier 3, very low bitrates.

(just a info)

Presumably you've seen neither Underworld or Silent Hill then.

I saw Silent Hill yesterday and it was nothing like Tier 3. Rather Tier 1.
Why do you think Concorde left out the supplements?
They wanted to focus on the movie (PQ/AQ) to get best quality.
