Hi:
I have posted some of this in another thread but wanted to see if anyone else had seen anything like this with a new RS1.
I got the unit on Tuesday and plugged it into my system. My source system consists of:
DirecTV H20 HD
Old SD Big dish
Sammy Standard DVD
HP HTPC outputting from NVidia 8500GT (card has HDMI out)
Distributed to the PJ (and other displays elsewhere in the house) via:
Gefen 4x4 matrix HDMI distribution switch
Marantz SR8001 HT Receiver
Th RS1 worked fine for an hour or so but soon started to display a yellowish posterization in the images. Shortly thereafter it started to blink on and off randomly. At times I could not even call up the PJ menu or even shut it down w/o an unplug. This went away for a few hours that night but returned the next day and eventually was present to the point where with NO input cables plugged in, I could not even get the PJ menu to come up. So bricked it is and going back to AVS for a new one today (thank God they are great about this and now have them in stock).
I should add that I have been running EXACTLY the same system with a Sammy DLP PJ for a month now with zero issues. Also, although at first it looked like the somewhat common occasional HDMI issue - this can't be since (1) I tested it with a short (6 foot) cable direct from a DVD player with no effect and (2) Ultimately the problem was there with NO inputs at all hooked up....
So my questions are this:
1) Has anyone else had a similarly bricked RS1?
2) Is there anything about my system that might have caused this? (OK, I know this is damned unlikely but now I am paranoid <g>)
Any input would be helpful (maybe?) <g>
