After the MS E3 press conference, I got to thinking.

For a person such as myself, who only has 1080i HDTVs and 5.1 surround sound systems (not capable of TrueHD), is it still worth it pay for a monthly subscription to Netflix instead of just renting from the Xbox Marketplace?

Especially since the addtion of Disney (and all their subsidiary studios) it seems as if I would even have a larger HD selection (since I do not have Blu-ray) when compared to Netflix.

Guess I just wanted to hear everyone else's thoughts on this.

P.S.
I'm not saying I am considering discontinuing my support of the HD DVD format, but rather Netflix.

IMHO there is still enough content available on HD DVD to justify the monthly fee (I am assuming you are on the 2 movie/unlimited plan).

You could get additional stuff on XBL but I don't think you should go cold turkey.

My .02 as a non-xbox owning Netflix customer.

Actually, I am currently on the 3 movie/unlimited plan.

But that may be a good idea. Changing to the 2 movie/unlimited would reduce my cost, but still give me the option of using the service. Something to ponder at least...

I would hate to change my viewing habits to watch only what was available in HD. Not enough selection for me. I'll take Kill Bill in Standard Def any day over High-def Stealth.

Rumor keeps going around that Netflix is working on a set-top box to go with their watch now service. That would be interesting. I think they're going to let microsoft and sony do all the work of getting studios used to the idea of putting their HD up for download, and then swoop in with th killer device for downloadable HD, forget both Blu-ray and HD-DVD. Heck, even it it was only available on PC, I'll hook up a PC to the bigscreen.

At least, that's what I hope happens.
