Looks like us Canadians are (sort of) getting a break!

HMV has SOME of the import titles available. Importing the titles from xploited ends up costing about the same (item + shipping + possible customs charges), so it might be worthwhile for all of us Canadians to place some orders at our local HMVs.

Only one store actually carries the titles in stock (the Toronto HMV Super Store), but ALL stores have the ability to place special orders.

The only two I've found so far on hmv.ca are:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
La Haine (listed just as 'Haine')

I don't suggest ordering online. Call your local HMV and place an order. Show them that us consumers want HD DVD.

The "format" is listed as HDD, which is what HMV has HD DVDs listed as in their system in the stores too.

I ordered The Prestige from amazon.co.uk, it rang up on my credit card bill just under $40. Asking for $55 + tax is WAY too much for an HD DVD, especially since Harry Potter will see a release here eventually, it's not a BD exclusive.

Nice to see that they're trying at least! Did the Toronto store have a better selection?

I ordered The Prestige from amazon.co.uk too, but I got dinged with an extra $10 customs fee. You might get the same problem ordering from xploited, but not as likely.

HMV is always over priced... but at least they made a bit of an effort. It'd be better if they could get some of the "Blu Ray Exclusives" on HD DVD.
