View Full Version : What is a stuck pixel? Rhino5167 07-13-07, 11:39 AM Ok I am showing that I am a newb here...but could someone explain what is a stuck pixel? thanks Kr8z1 07-13-07, 11:46 AM A stuck pixel is stuck on one color. A dead pixel shows no color. Rhino5167 07-13-07, 11:52 AM And as I have been reading one remedy is to run a Pixar movie? Why? Kr8z1 07-13-07, 11:59 AM Because it has bright colors with motion. Some feel like this can help "jump start" a pixel. Rhino5167 07-13-07, 12:04 PM So any Disney Pixar movie MAY help unstick a pixel, huh interesting.. DBLASS 07-13-07, 04:33 PM Sorry but most of the above information is not correct. Stuck pixels are when the transistor that opens and closes the color element (think of is as a light valve) is stuck in the open position. The most common cause was the transistor is dead (non-functioning), causing the open "window". These days, most sets are "normally" black (or closed windows) so when the transistor dies, you get a black dot not a color dot. These days, the stuck pixel is a "sticking" issue. The are poorly functioning transistors that have trapped charges in them that cause the transistor to "stick" in the open position. Some software is designed to address the exact transistor and "kick" it loose. sievers 07-13-07, 04:41 PM You may have elaborated on Kr8z1's comments, but that doesn't make them incorrect. jus sayin :) Kr8z1 07-13-07, 04:41 PM I broke it down to easy terms and the way most everyone here references to stuck and dead pixels. I must add that many people who have a stuck pixel issue have a pixel(s) that is stuck on one color - not black. |
