Make of it what you will, but it would be great news for fans of the series with PS3s if it is true:

During our chat with Sony's head of game development Phil Harrison earlier today EGM's Dan Hsu asked about whether Sony had any plans to combat the exclusive [GTA4] downloadable content headed to the Xbox 360. Here's what he had to say:

"As the head of the [internal Sony] studios it's hard for me to comment on the third party relations, so I don't know the details of that -- we deliberately keep those separate -- but we have a great relationship with Rockstar and we're actually working closely with them on a number of initiatives, so I do know some things that are going on but I'm not able to share those with you now."

What those initiatives are -- whether this could mean the Xbox 360 episodic content is a timed exclusive, or that there is other content headed to PS3, or something else entirely -- remains to be seen. But there you have it, something is in the works.

posted this last night in the GTA downloadable content thread. I knew it was inevitable. MS can pay to make their content exclusive, and maybe even arrive first, but they cant tell rockstar not to make completely different content...

I'm not sure I read a hint in that article - seem kind of a stretch to me. Not saying that it isn't in the works, just saying this doesn't really reveal much.

1up asked Phil about the XBox 360 getting exclusive downloadable content for GTA4. Phil responded that Sony has a great relationship with Rockstar, and that there are a few things in the works that he can't talk about yet. 1up obviously took that as meaning us PS3 owners aren't getting the shaft completely with this title as far as extra content goes. We'll have to wait on specifics.

Yeah, nothing concrete. I'm still happy with the regular version anyway, I never finish them.

Rockstar need to take advantage of all that extra BD space. Squeeze a couple dozen more hours of sound track/radio station onto that disc.

Well if there is a written contract dictating what they can and can't do they could tell Rockstar what to do. I like the differences in interviews though, there is another one talking about how concerned Sony is with the MS/Rockstar deal and they said, paraphrase "We don't buy exclusives anymore and we focus on new franchises not old one's, no concern MS is making a mistake". This report seems directly against that remark. It's Sony, they will say what they have to to any interviewer to make them happy, thinking they are fooling the public. On another recent interview they recently went on the record in Europe telling us how hype-driven-inaccurate American's are, while Europe and Japan are honorable nations and they have to be accurate there because the public will call them out otherwise. Nice! but wrong.

Exclusive content coming for the PS3 doesn't mean they had to pay for it. There's nothing said here that's contradictory.
