Hi,

thats a high spec 808 unit.

You should have "Convergence on green" in the convergence menu (thats an optional extra - card attached to the conv tray)

You should have "contrast modulation" again optional extra - used to reduce the hot spot "Bright" center of screen area essential is "Blending" projectors

the board you show with the fan on between the Controller and Iris is "SEMU" Soft Edge system - used for blending. There are 3 types of "SEMU" semu lite 2 side blending, semu advanced 4 side blending both of those fit 808 / 1208s / 1209s units and then there is Semu advanced II that is fitted to 909 units.

The little board on the Vertical board I think is "HDTV" optional board. (Check the writing on the PCB, Im not 100% sure about this one).

ALSO you might find the port3 board has been replaced with a "BCL Link board" - that is used to control the contrast of multiple projectors in a stck/blend situation.

The DOWN side of that projector is the use of Sony tubes (I can see the additional focus wires in the picture)

Thats a nice projector - Well done.

So did Barco actually develop and produce blending hardware in their projectors that we can use for really big HT screens? Does this mean that if you're lucky enough to fine some Barcos like the one above you don't need a Diventix or other blending software?

The answer to that has always been YES.................

Im selling my BARCO 1209s blending pair - Actually I have 2 pairs of them.

I also have the early SEMU cards for early units I think 801s and early 1208 units - cant be sure of this but I have a pair that replace the port3 cards.

The later SEMU cards that fit say 808/1208s/1209s are more complicated.

YOU CANT just fit SEMU cards - they were a factory option that required a number of boards to be changed.......Controller + RGB driver board for the Semu Advanced system.

Call me stupid (and I would deserve that) in all the time I have had my Barco blending 1209s pair(s) I have not really run the Barco system, You need to send the "overlap" signal to each PJ, so with use Nvidia powerwall overlap feature or get a blending scaler - I ended up with blending scaler for various reasons - ease of use of the scaler mainly.

I intend to publish a full Barco SEMU information thread one day - its on my to do list........

Thanks ;)

mmmmmmmm i don't know .... PN is R762848

Hi Thank you.

That small board on the vertical board could be to do with the BCL link option - I cant check that at the mo, but some of mine have this option.

PS - In some countries the "sticking tongue out" smile is considered rude ;) .

mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I bought this 808s for spare parts.

I would to take some of his parts to modify my Barco Graphics 808 with new Panasonic tubes.

I would swap compatible boards, iris, firmware ... and would to modify sony neckboards for use with my mec tubes.

so ... Soft Edge System is useless for me, which boards can I remove?

sorry for my english language ... use google translator :D
