I bought an A2 a few months ago. I have purchased The Game & the Matrix Trilogy since owning the player (besides the five free ones).

I bought a PS3 today. I did it for games and the the movie selection. I feel fortunate to own both formats, but I also feel like a traitor.

Since the PS3 will always be there to play games, I still would like to see HD DVD come out on top. However, I don't think they really want to win. If I was Toshiba and Warner Bros., I would have released every possible great movie possible in the beginning (Heat, LA Confidential, The Negotiator, .....).

HD DVD can still win. I have a feeling this Christmas is going to be the deciding factor. I can easily see a $199 A2 and a $399 PS3 by Christmas. I think the available software will determine the winner.

Heat is confirmed for 2008, L.A. Confidential I don't know and The Negotiator isn't really that great of a movie to be honest!

I am not sure which movies that Toshiba owns and thus could release.....

Isn't Warner Bros cross platform, so they really do not care which one wins as long as they sell lots of movies, and their released movies are not highly pirated...

Both formats obviously want to win, but it's about content. More studios on Blu...

We'll see, HD DVD. We'll see...

Congrats on going neutral. You are no traitor..your allegiance only need be to yourself as a movie lover.

We're currently just in the midst of a calm before the storm. I don't expect much big news until Cedia kicks off and we head into the buying season. Right now I expect that all CE vendors and beefing up their suppy chain and ensuring deliverables for this vital time.

The Win CE/Broadcom players are coming and I hope we see some more exciting features like HDD drives in some players for larger persistent storage.

I'm going to at least double my movie collection and I may shoot for tripling it by years end.

Don't sweat over a couple of disk formats. HD DVD will be the lowest cost player for at least 18 more months and when they drop below $199 even more people will be buying them. The rate of sales was 10,000 per week when the A2 went to $299 I would predict that it will move to 20,000 per week once the price hits $199.

Its about price first, then content........HD-DVD has just enough content IMO that if the price can get down below 200 it will not only kickstart consumers, but the studios will follow.

I'd be universal that needs to start putting out more discs. We meed newer stuff and not all catalog. Yes some are great. But most of the B&M stores don't sell them.
And that's what's its about at least haveing a good selction of disc the average consumer can see. They may go to amazon after words as the instore prices are horible. How are pepole to know HDDVD is putting discs out when all they carry is day and date. Which lately their haven't been a lot of

But if they get a player to $199 w/a few free movies. That would help a lot get the word out is even more important. Theirs a lot of HDTVs out their that have never "seen" HD.

But I plan on going blu as well but can't figure out which to Get. I want a Ps3 at some point but their only like 2 games exclusive to the console. Most other upcomming games will be on the 360. Which I have.

Or I could get the sony S300 which offer 5.1 analog outs. Which allows me to utlize my amplifers 5.1 analog ins (yamaha-5790)
.
I also want a DVHS player for those exclusives. And I just like having formats no else has.(off AVS anyway :) )
I've got laserdisc as well.

I think they realize that the format is in it's infancy at the moment.

Sony is like a UFC fighter going for the big "swinging for the fences replay-worthy" knockout in the first round. It could happen but the majority of the time, that strategy just doesn't work.

As well you should. :D

Hey, it's not like you bought a standalone player or anything. But of course if that were the case, you'd probably feel not so much a traitor as just plain silly. ;)
