Alright im finishing up disc 1 of planet earth (bought it this week), and something caught my eye earlier, but on the last section of disc 1 it really shows.

Can someone verify this, on Disc 1 - Freshwater (episode 3), fastfoward to the 4 minute mark, and theres a scene where they pan over angel falls. Now during most of this scene, the picture blinks with little white dots over all of the dark/medium lit areas. So about 40% of the screen has these very dense white dots all over it. Its VERY VERY noticeable.

Im 99% sure its either my hd-dvd player or TV, because i really dont think they would let out such an atrocious error on an hd-dvd series costing $100.

I have the HD-D1 from costco btw.

It's part of the disc/nothing to worry about.

It's the helecopter causing visual interference on the camera.

It's not your set. Planet Earth is noisy all over, maybe half the scenes, especially in the earlier discs. At least you didn't notice the banding all over the skies.

Lol at the above - there's actually very few sky shots with banding.

damn you think they would have figured out how to make that not happen before going out there and filming such a place as angel falls, but meh, so be it.

Didn't see anything of the sort. No banding here as well. Must be particular disc or something on your setup/settings (more likely).

There is no configuration problem... Planet Earth is the problem. The title has significant visual quality problems, at least on high-def discs. See here for more:
