I'm thinking about importing a US PS3 to Germany once the price drops too 500 (or has it already?), because $500 is a lot less money than 500€. I wouldn't mind if you helped me a bit with the research.
I already found out that the power supply will handle both 110 and 230 volts, so no converting required. Now i'm looking for an actual online shop that ships american PS3s to Germany. Play-asia doesn't, and some others too had a note about not being able to send Sony consoles to the EU. Probably due to the whole Lik-Sang tragedy last year. Might it be impossible to get one sent over here, even? I know there's always ebay, but that's not where i'd prefer to buy a $500 piece of hardware.
Also, i assume that i won't have any warranty from Sony when i do this, right? I figure the German Sony wouldn't, say, fix my US PS3 if it died of overheating 2 years down the line?
I hope i find a way to import, because damn, the thing already is expensive enough. One could argue that it's pretty cheap for a bluray player, but that's not what i'm looking for. :o
