View Full Version : Digital Theater Question

First off, I don't make it out to theaters very often. I worked in one during high school and there's just something about going back now. However, yesterday, my daughter birthday party to go to that was held at a theater. After the "party", they got to watch Ratatouille and we stayed and watched it as well. It was being shown on a DLP projector (I think the trailers said that it was Christie Digital). The screen appeared to be 1.85:1. What I noticed was that during the trailers, the image was often very nearly 4:3 with black pillars on the sides. The image showed what appeard to me to be major keystoning. This happened during a lot of the trailers. The movie filled the screen but several times during the actual movie screening, this keystoning was very aparent (mainly during dark scenes). I didn't notice it at all during the brighter scenes. The dark scenes and then the credits really showed that - even when there was something being projected on the outer areas of the screen. Anybody have any ideas what would be causing this?

Thanks,

John
