What would be a better sub to get?
hsu (http://hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3.html)
svs (http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?homesubw&1189530238)
I know that the hsu sub is discontinued but I can still get it off ebay. I dont want to buy a new sub.
So which one would you recommend?

Both are great subs so it really comes down to cost and space requirements. That looks like a decent price for the SVS. How much is the Hsu?

The performance should be very similar and either should be a good choice. It comes down to a preference of box vs. cylinder.

Both very similar. It's like trying to choose between vanilla ice cream and chocolate ice cream... it's all good.

As mentioned by everyone else, both are good. Go with the one that's going to cost you less.

If "footprint" isn't a problem, I'd go with the HSU.

More like French vanilla or vanilla bean ice cream.

Both are very yummy but one may perfer one over the other. :)

When buying used, there are some other things to consider. What is the condition of the subs and are they still under warranty? I know SVS will transfer the balance of the warranty to subsequent buyers. I don't know if HSU does. If HSU does transfer, they offer a much longer warranty on the driver, 7 years vs 2 years. Both carry 2 years on the amp.

Ask if the sellers will provide the serial numbers, then contact SVS and HSU about the term of the warranty and it's tranferability.

Other than that, everyone else made the correct recommendations. Rather vanilla which I'm sure helps you out. :)

OvalNut, you noticed it, too.

What Randy said.
It's always good to check with the manufacturers on warranty and parts availability, especially on discontinued products.
