View Full Version : mits WD-62725 bulb hours dim picture
darrylgh 07-16-07, 06:06 AM Hi, I have a mitsubishi WD-62725 DLP set. I had the set for 22 months now and the picture is getting dim, so I was wondering how do you check the bulb hours?? If I replace the lamp does a meter need to be reset?? Should the front be removed and clean the mirror??? Thanx for any help. :)

and welcome to the forums.
In the mean time, are there any smokers? If not, I wouldn't bother with the lens (the mirror is pointing downwards).
"Menu, 2, 4, 7, 0" should get you into the service menu, but you really have to be careful since you can do more harm then good when inside). The lamp time is at the bottom of the screen, the 2nd number from the left if it is the same as last years menu.
BTW, it's normal for the output to drop as it ages. You might want to have a spare on hand when it does go.
darrylgh 07-16-07, 07:11 PM Thanx videobruce, I have 4,605 hours on my lamp. Yes we are a non smoking home. so I guess I'll get a new lamp to keep on hand for when It goes, or when football kick's off. Only one last question. Do I need to reset the hour timer after bulb replacement?? If so how?? thanx again.

i have the same tv. same problem and just cleaned the mirror and screen on sunday(took 15-25 mins) and fixed the problem. looks brand new again. ive never done work on tvs before and it was real easy.dont pay any one to come look at it and work on it. it will be a waste of money
dssturbo1 07-17-07, 01:52 AM there is a small internal mirror on these sets that sits pointing up and is notorious for getting filthy with dust. many many members report cleaning it once or twice a year. look on page 95 for details on how to do it yourself and again with pictures on page 141 post 2417 and 2422.

usually when you relace the lamp there is an on screen question asking if you replaced it and just answer when you see that and it will reset the lamp timer. the lamp question usually comes up when the power is disconnected also.

if you want to waste 300 bucks! i dont know where you guys live but where i live i can get a new lamp that same day.
videobruce 07-17-07, 10:44 PM Why would he be "wasting 300 bucks"??

because his tv just needs to be cleaned.(he can do that for free) when the lamp goes then he should buy a new one.why be out the money for no reason?the lamp would be sitting at the store for free or his house for 300 bucks.
dssturbo1 07-24-07, 04:04 AM the mits lamp is $229+tax+shipping. if the op is gonna keep the set it doesnt hurt to go ahead and get a lamp it will blow sometime. my first one lasted 8941 hours. I still complained to mits and they gave it to me for $200+tax+shipping and then sent a $75 customer appreciaton refund check so it totaled about $150.
here are the pics of a wd62525 internal mirror i helped clean today. certainly looked better after it was cleaned. this guys set had never been cleaned and it was about 28 months old.

videobruce 07-24-07, 08:20 AM Geesh, barely needed a cleaning................... ;)
Cabinet isn't sealed very well as I never saw a RPTV get that dusty, even with 2x the time.
9k hours and they gave you a break on the replacement??
dssturbo1 07-25-07, 04:31 AM This guy had cleaned the side filter but never the internal mirror. And his wife keeps a pretty clean house overall. Just shows how the mits wd 52/62x5 series had the problem with the foam around the lens coming off and letting dust into the mirror area.
Yes, mits gave me a little break on the lamp even though it lasted longer than average lamp life expectancy. I had not done much homework and certainly at the time i purchased the set I wasn't expecting to output $250+ every couple years for a lamp. And the set also needing a cleaning as they do wasn't expected either. The mits service center said it was a mits policy for every mits dealer to state up front the the dlp sets will need lamps and the customer should be advised of that. My mits dealer never mentioned a word about my new $4000 set needing a lamp approx. every 2 years. So the service center gave me the $75 customer appreciation refund to help a little. Of course i had to talk to a higher level csr before i was offered that.
videobruce 07-25-07, 08:05 AM 9,000 hours in only 2 years? Guess I'm a little behind with less than 1k in 9 months..............
