The wife has given me the "look around and see what you can find" approval, and I've been looking around for a short while and I'm not finding anything that suits me.

I'm looking for accessories, decorations, etc... for a living room/ home theater.

I've found a few posters that I want to get and put into simple frames (not light boxes, so that's a no brainer for me, but the accessories, decor, etc... I'm getting stumped as to where to look. Maybe even a few "reproduction" movie props would be nice.

I've also thought of building a mini concession stand, just a small cabinet with some prop boxes of candy in them (the real thing would be too tempting in our house). I've already received some plans for the stand from another member on here (Thanks). If anyone has some interesting designs for candy stands (not full blown bars or counters), I'd be grateful.

If some of you could suggest a few sites for hte props, decor, posters (allposters.com), I would appreciate it as well.

If you have a Bed Bath and Beyond nearby, they have a few HT themed wall items. There's a thread on it here somewhere. Basically, they have a film reel, clapboard, and popcorn cup props. All are decently priced, especially coupled with one of their many coupon deals.

As for movie poster frames, check out Walmart. My Walmart is selling movie size poster frames for cheap.

For posters, go to video rental stores and ask them if they are selling any of them. I picked up some for $1 each.

Cant go wrong with some of the DIY marquees that people have created on these forums.

Also check out Ebay for movie reels, etc.

Yea, I'm thinking of getting one of the 9x20 marquee signs, just as soon as I know what I want on it.

Michael's has a decent poster frame (better than the wal-mart one) for $40. But, they're always running 40-50% off coupons in the paper, so I got all 4 of mine for $20 each. That's not too bad.

I have purchased Movie Poster calendars in the past with the idea of framing the pictures.

I am very happy with my Bed, Bath & Beyond film reels, clapboard, and popcorn wall sculptures. They are reasonably priced and look GREAT on the wall. A lot better than in the box on the shelf in the store.

I'll have to go check out BB&B and Linens&Things this weekend. I would hint at some birthday gifts (mine's next week), but I know she's already bought me something really nice. I could hope for Christmas.....

I looked at some craft stores for frames and shadow boxes. I found some nice black wood frames that were 28x40 (I think) for uner $40 each. The 9x20 shadow boxes were $20. As soon as I figure out what posters (probably Terminator 1, 2, and 3 plus a B&W of Arnold on the motorcycle from T2, and Linda Hamilton cleaning an M16), and which Marquee I'm going with go buy them and really freak my wife out.... She's sort-of given me the OK to do this stuff. I don't think she realizes HOW MUCH I plan on doing. I've been working on custom Intro's (Universal, FOX, Touchstone, Disney, etc..) and she just rolls her eye when I show it to her.

What's cool about this book is that inside there are about a dozen 6x9 miniature movie posters for movies based around Alcatraz, including The Rock. If you can find a local framer and have him cut out the images and have them mounted on 11x14 matboard, you can then buy a bunch of 11x14 frames from michaels or walmart and have professional looking artwork for not a lot of money.

Orginally found them at a "record" CD/DVD store (non chain) and then ordered more directly off the site.

I just ordered three 27x40 frames from frameusa.com. Great prices, great quality. 100.00 minimum order, although if you buy three poster frames, you're good to go. I also bought metal 11x17 frames and old horror movie posters from ebay pretty cheap, although I'd probably would have gotten them from frameusa if I had known about them before.

I downloaded hi-res photos from movies and framed them. They look good and were cheap. I also go some nice poster frames from Garden Ridge, movie posters from eBay, and the BB&B movie items...We just moved into our house, so the theater isn't done yet. Still need carpet and paint and a few other things....

I got some authentic goldberg film reels from Ebay for about $27 each... tons of stuff there.

Music stores and thrift stores probably have a bunch of these selling for literally pennies on the dollar so look around.

I used to get movie posters from my local video rental store when I was a kid. They'd hold em for me. I have several from 1991 Batman. allposters.com is a good site to buy from. As far as other props, dollar tree- if there's one where you're at- always has movie boxes of candy for $1 each. Sugar Babies, Junior Mints, Milk Duds, Nerds, Bottle Caps, dots, all the classics. Even if you just eat the one box and glue the flap back down to use as a display, you can't beat it for $1. I also got popcorn buckets there. One large one or 4 individual ones for just a buck each!

Yeah, I've searched high and low for poster frames, and no one has beat wal marts price.
