Anyone know if season 2 of the Supernatural (TV series) will be released by WB for HD? I read a rumor about this a couple of months ago on a website dedicated to the show, but I have not seen any confirmation. This would be a must buy for me because I loved the 1st season but have been unable to watch the 2nd season. Also would anyone else be interested in a HD release for Supernatural?

I'd buy the show on HD in an instant. I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the show will be released on HD, since the SD is already up for pre-order on Amazon and there's been no recent mention of anything else.

This was talked about in a Smallville Season 6 thread. WB has announced season 2 of Supernatural for release later this year.

I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
And it really will look good on HD-DVD. I know I'm impressed with the OTA HD feeds of it. Sharp, mute colors.

I looked over in the Smallville threads and the only thing I see mentioned is the SD release.

I have only seen the SD release info also. Hmm... I guess we will have to wait and see on this one, but I'm scared they would have already announced this title for release in HD. I still have my fingers crossed.

That's just a huge rumor/likely list... has there been any actual announcement?

I doubt it. If you want to check for yourself, search the May/June articles in the blog below.

I doubt it.So you say in one post that "WB has announced season 2 of Supernatural for release later this year" and then say a few posts later that you doubt there's been an announcement? :D

I didn't know it was hd to begin with. I have never seen it broadcast in anything but 4:3 sd and not good sd at that.

I didn't know it was hd to begin with. I have never seen it broadcast in anything but 4:3 sd and not good sd at that.It sounds like a local affiliate problem on your end. It's been in HD for both seasons, and it's been fantastic-quality HD.

I had to watch an episode in SD once, and I can see what you mean by not looking so good. This is one example of a show that really needs to be seen in HD. In SD the muted colors of the show just kind of blend together, creating a mushy mess. In HD, it looks spectacular.

This has got to be one of the best shows for demonstrating how an HD show can use the medium to look different, and then use that look in conjunction with the show's themes.

I haven't seen what it looks like on plain old DVD, so I can't comment on that. If it were to come out on HD DVD, I'm guessing it would be near reference level for TV shows on HD media.

Maybe the future success and sales of Heroes for HD DVD will influence the release of Supernatural on HD DVD. Just wishful thinking. And yes, Supernatural would be reference quality for TV on HD DVD because it is an awesome looking show.

I have Directv. Neither the WB or now CW are/were available in HD. Hopefully this fall that will change.

put an antenna up.

your cable company also likely carries CW

WB has been doing HD for years, and you're still stuck with directv and their crappy picture? ugh..

Cable companies often don't carry the HD feed of CW either.

Another vote for checking your local listings and getting an antenna.

You'll also get the full bandwidth of the signal instead of the possibly HD-Lite from your satellite/cable provider.

The standard DVD's upscale nicely on the Toshiba players though.

Well, HD-DVD or not, I'm getting Supernatural Season 2 on Sept. 11th. Actually, this will be the first regular DVD that I have purchased since I've had my HD-DVD player.
