After 2400 hours my AE700 bulb went pop yesterday, I suspect my kids putting a heater under it won't have helped. It was getting dim anyway. I phoned a friend who had got a buy one (projector) and get one (bulb) free deal with his AE700 a year ago and he was willing to part with it for cash.

Unfortunately I was wrong and he'd bought the 900, with associated bulb.. On close inspection, it looked very similar. I checked the part number on the bulb and they were the same. It fits into the projector and works a treat.

I am uneasy though, I would hate to have made a mistake and the bulb go pop again, (I've had two hours out of it, that's $250NZ an hour so far).

Does anyone know if these bulbs are binary compatible. I can't see why not, but I need some reassurance.
