I received an HLT5076 about 3 weeks ago as a replacement for an HLR5087. I watched some standard DVD movies over the weekend and noticed that during black dark scenes I could see red pixels flash like snow in the dark sections of the picture throughout the movie (the main movie was Dead Silence). I thought maybe it was an issue with the up-conversion on the PS3 but I never saw it on my old tv. When I watch BR disc it does not happed. I did notice it maybe a couple times on a dark part of Rainbow Six but only once or twice. Do you think this is a contrast issues? Has anyone seen this happen?

Does anyone know what direction I should go with this question? Maybe a Playstation thread?
Thanks,
Jason
First, make sure to calibrate using AVIA or DVE to properly adjust your contrast and brightness. Second, is it only 1 moivie (in which case it's probably the disc itself) or all SD DVDs? Third, how are you connected (HDMI?)? The PS3 only upscales over HDMI, not component.

I have noticed the red specks on both Blu Ray and SD DVD's. It is always in the blackest parts of the scene. I have the TV hooked up via HDMI. I have paused while it shows the red specks and then tried to adjust the contrast and brightness and it seems I can not get them to stop. I run the PS3 through an HK AVR 247 and then to the TV. I am going to hook the PS3 directly to the TV next to eliminate the receiver as the issue. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jason
