I intend to use a 16:9 ratio for my set up (80:45). The Sony manual for the projector gives the key measurements for a 4:3 set up. I used the Sony projector calculator (Version 5.20) for a 16:9 configuration for 80:45, but the program only gives the horizontal distance between the center of the screen and the center of the green lens, and, by extrapolation, the vertical distance between the ceiling and the center of the screen. Are the other measurements in the manual for a 4:3, such as distance between the center of the green lens and the center of the screen, the same for both set ups? Thanks for any advice.

the way i set mine up was i first maximized the image to the tube face, about 3-5 mm from corners. I then found the center of the screen and ran a strip of the Blue masking tape for painting on my floor perpendicular to the screen at the center point, make sure you keep it square to the screen and run enough tape to cover the distance . I Set the center of the projector on the blue line While displaying a test patern from my lumagen scaler but i guess any image source will work, i moved the projector back till the image filled the screen. this is where i then mounted the projector to the ceiling directly above. I now have maximum phosphor usage for my 16x9 screen. This method worked fine for me.

You got it, and thanks all for the info. It is a great hobby (obsession?) and I look forward to more fully appreciating the discussions. And yes, I have read not only the Sony manual but Barco and Marquee manuals (which each have their strengths) and bought Graham Johnson's DVD to get a sense of what is going on BUT its the difference between reading about surgery and actually doing it! PJ,
Make sure you when you set up the tube that you do a complete sharp focus on the blue then go into the service menus for focus and defocus the blue electronicly to get a smoother grey scale. My calibrator did this ang got really close to a flat gey scale. and the gamma is a tough one, After my calibrator left i used my lumagen in the service menu and bumped up 10,20,30 and 40 ire just alittle looking at dark sceans while doing this till i got the dark detail i wanted with out changing the whites i used a few a Aeon Flux sceans hwhere white and dark areas were on the screen together jst to make sure i wasnt messing anyhting up color wise. Gamma adjustment on the Lumagens is a god send! It really helped out my set up especially since i have a 12 foot screen. My Moome hdmi cards are on there way, yes cards! I plan to stack as soon as i can find another pulley ceiling mount and get my convergence board fixed on my second PJ.

I have a line on a second Marquee. I can feel it. I'm being sucked down into the black hole of CRT MADNESS!!!!!

I have three ! one is a prts machine.

I know rickwick your in alot of trouble once you get it all set up! Once you see how awesome crt looks you will still want to make it better! Its like all those guys wanting to soup up the Mitsubishi EVO's(i'm one) its a freaking awesome car with no mods but, why not make it better !
