Hi guys,
I hope you can help me. I am in the market for a media streamer but I have no idea what model I need, there are so many! I kind of have a shortlist but am also open to suggestions.
I basically need it to stream Divx, Xvid, MP3 and WAV wirelessly from a 2Tb NAS. I would really like to be able to stream HD content (BluRay and DVD HD rips) to an HDMI port but I understand I may get performance issues doing that wirelessly? So I was considering getting those LAN plug things that use your mains ring as a CAT5. How do they perform?
I was originally looking at boxes like the Kiss DP1600 and the Netgear EVA8000 but then saw the seriously sexy Tomacro LimHD200i (I opened a separate thread about that, thanks again to OldPainless68 for his views), but since then I've discovered boxes like the TVix M5100-SH and the PixelMagic Mediabox HD which look like very similar performers both technically and physically/aesthetically.
What is it that separates these boxes? Are they all as good as each other? What is the performance and reliability like with wireless streaming and how do they compare with streaming HD content? Ideally I want one without an internal HDD (and without a fan so it's nice and quiet) as all my media is on the NAS, and also I need it to see the folder structure on the NAS (ie you don't need to set up a database to point it to your files)
Any advice you can give would be gratefully received.
Many thanks all
